Feature Details -

  • List pages now load faster.
  • TableRelation lookup pages are now much faster.

Explanation -

  • Microsoft Introduced Partial Records in Previous Releases in Business Central.
  • With Business Central 19, Microsoft have enhanced Partial Records to Pages in Platform.
  • Only fields which are part of the list page & Lookup page design will be loaded from SQL Server while trying to fetch records.

Example -

  • A Sample Customer Page with Just 3 Fields (No., Name and Location Code).

  • Before Business Central 19 while trying to run the page SQL Query will fetch all fields as shown below. If table have table extension, then those are also loaded from SQL Server.
  • As Highlighted this loads fields from table extension and also create joins for each table extension.

  • Starting Business Central 19, with Partial Records - Only Primary Key Fields, System Audit Fields and some other fields will be loaded.
  • As Page does not contain a field from table extension, system did not load fields and nor create join to Table Extension.

Based on this small change the performance of List page will improve drastically.

Hope you learn and will be able to utilize this feature as Business Central 19 is available.
