Feature Details -

You can now use the capabilities of configuration templates with the new templates for customers, vendors, items, and employees. These include the ability to add any field, and to save and apply templates from customer, vendor, item, and employee lists.

Explanation -

  • We all have used Templates in Business Central to standardize Mater Record Creation process.
  • With Business Central 2021 Release Wave 2, Microsoft have enhanced the Template Creation process to further enhance the experience.

  • Customers now can Personalize the Templates (Customer, Vendor, Item and Employee) to add any field in template which customer feel should be part of template.

  • In addition to this, customers now can create new customer, vendor, Item and Employee first and then can save those master records as templates for future master record creation, Using Save as Template action.

For Developers how to keep data in sync when new fields are added in template Microsoft have documentation that explains how to extend the new templates, and sample code shows how to keep master data and templates synchronized.

Hope you learn and will be able to utilize this feature as Business Central 19 is available.
