NAV 2013 R2 - JET REPORT Configuration with NAV - Part 1

Hi all,

I guess most of us know how to install JET Reports. If you still don't know then just follow the steps in Post.

The Configuration before NAV 2013 is different than in NAV 2013 or Later.

Reason - JET Report used C Front till NAV 2009 R2 to connect to database. As now C Front component have been discontinued by Microsoft.

How Jet Report Connects to Navision Database in NAV 2013 onward?

JET Report usages web services to connect to the database.

What we will cover in the post?

We will see, How to -
 1) Install Jet Reports.
 2) Jet Report Objects (Require to import them before configuring).
 3) Create a new service or you can use the same service. (I Prefer a new one)
 4) Create a web service by connecting to windows client.
 5) Setup Web service details into JET Report in Excel.
 6) Provide the license (Licensing have also been changed by Jet Report. Now you require the activation code.)

So Let's Begin -

1 Install Jet Reports.

- Download the Latest Build of Jet Report LINK.

- Unzip the downloaded File in step 2 and Install the JET from Client Component based on your excel version (32 / 64 bit).
How to check excel version

- During Installation it will ask for activation code.

- Activation Code is Provided by Jet Report in the Email when you purchase / Upgrade your License.
OR
You can ask for activation code from LINK.

Enter your details -
  Email address as per license.
Jet License Number ( you can find it in your license file as shown below)

Once you click submit on activation page as shown below.

After few hours you will get the activation code on email.

2 Jet Report Objects.

- You can find the objects in the downloaded folder of Jet Report under Server Component.
FileName - Jet Reports Objects.fob

OR

Download the Objects required for Navision database. Link

- Import objects into Navision database on which you want to configure the JET Reports.

3. Create a new service or you can use the same service.

Now we need to create a new service for Jet Reports.
*How to create New Service Instance in NAV 2013 R2

I have created a Service Named as Jet Report with Port 1045,1046,1047 & 1048.

We have covered Three Parts of our agenda, In Next Post we will see how to do rest of configuration.

Thanks & Regards,
Saurav Dhyani
